Chinese Companies Wish to Promote Biodegradable Plastics at Beijing 2008 Olympics

A number of Chinese local companies expressed their wishes to promote the use of biodegradable plastics at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in a recent seminar on the issue, Chinese local press reported.

In order to achieve the goal, biodegradable plastics suppliers proposed that all disposable dining ware and such disposable products as sun helmets and signage should be made of biodegradable plastics. For hotels, they should indicate clearly the biodegradable nature of all materials of that kind.

The proposals were addressed to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCGO).
